The Dodge Durango is part family-friendly SUV and part performance vehicle. It has a strong lineup of engines but also comes with the features you want for a daily commute or driving around town. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level SXT comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights, and roof rails with cross bars. It also has heated side exterior mirrors. Choose the GT for black exterior trim elements, including the grille and window trim. It also has 20-inch wheels and a power liftgate. The R/T is next in the lineup with a sunroof, 20-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension. The high-end Citadel adds chrome exterior trim and Dodge's Trailer Tow Group IV, and the SRT 392 has Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, and a high-performance adaptive suspension. Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Durango is a 3.6-liter V-6 that puts out 295 horsepower. An optional 5.7-liter V-8 delivers 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. A 6.4-liter V-8 sits under the hood of the SRT 392. It generates 475 horsepower and comes standard with all-wheel drive. The rest of the trims come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option. The final engine option is a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 that produces 710 horsepower and comes standard on the SRT Hellcat. All models use the same eight-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
You can't lose with any of the Durango's engines. The V-6 is quick and responsive, getting the SUV to 60 mph in just 7.6 seconds, but the 5.7-liter V-8 cuts this time to 6.4 seconds. The 6.4-liter V-8 is even faster, getting you from zero to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. In addition to its speed, the Durango also offers impressive towing power, with a max of 8,700 pounds.
Interior
There are three rows in the Durango and room for up to seven people. It comes with cloth upholstery in the SXT, which also has an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and satellite radio. You'll get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel in the GT, with the option for heated second-row seats and leather upholstery. The R/T comes with power-adjustable front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and integrated navigation, and the Citadel adds to all this with ventilated front seats and second-row captain's chairs.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Dodge Durango has several advanced safety systems, including a rearview camera, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The GT with the GT Plus Package comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a lane-departure warning system. Adding the Premium Group I package gets you automatic high-beam headlights. The R/T comes standard with all these safety systems along with rain-sensing windshield wipers, and the Citadel has a full-speed forward collision warning system and lane-departure warning.
