A 4X4 FIRST AND FOREMOST
The Wrangler 4xe system is paired with a 2.0L I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine to bring out the best in already proven Jeep® Brand 4x4 capability. A 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative brake booster and eight-speed automatic transmission work together to send impressive amounts of power and torque to each wheel, maximizing the capability of every component.

THE TECH THAT MAKES IT HAPPEN
HYBRID MODE
The default mode, Hybrid, combines torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and the best acceleration. Electric power is consumed first.
ELECTRIC MODE
When the battery has more than a 1% charge, it can run in Electric Mode. This allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The vehicle can run in this mode for up to 21 miles.

Every Wrangler 4xe is delivered with a Level I (120V) charging system that plugs into a typical household outlet. You can get an even faster charge with an available safe, simple-to-use Level II (240V) charger like the Mopar® Branded TurboDX Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING
This feature allows the battery to be charged when decelerating and braking. The Max Regeneration feature remaps the accelerator pedal to command more aggressive regen at low pedal positions. It allows you to slow the vehicle down without the brake pedal, but a complete stop always requires the brake pedal. It also stays selected until you turn it off.

Design Features of the 2021 Wrangler 4xe
The Wrangler 4xe features the signature removable doors, soft-top roof, and foldable windshield that all Wrangler models are known for. All models have standard 4-wheel drive which lends it a naturally athletic driving experience. The Sahara trim kicks off the lineup with features such as automatic climate control, 20-inch wheels, and leather-trimmed seating. The Rubicon is the most rugged, with extra equipment like 33-inch all-terrain tires, blue-painted tow hooks, and a 10.9-inch ground clearance. The High Altitude provides a luxurious option with features such as leather interior, and body-color exterior accents. All 4xe models also have a compartment beneath the rear seats where the battery pack can be accessed by removing the seat cushion.
How Does the Wrangler 4xe’s Hybrid Powertrain Operate?
When it comes to the 2021 Wrangler 4xe, the real magic happens under the hood. The hybrid powertrain combines a powerful engine and transmission with two battery-powered motors. The first half of the equation features a robust 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine paired with an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The hybrid aspect includes two electric motors connected to a 400-volt, 96 cell lithium-ion battery pack. The battery can be easily recharged via the port on the front end of the vehicle, and drivers can monitor the battery levels on the dashboard and right on the port itself thanks to LED indicators. The battery and all its wiring are waterproof-sealed, and the 4xe can even withstand up to 30 inches of water fording.
What are the Tech Features of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
The Wrangler 4xe employs cutting-edge hybrid technology in order to increase fuel efficiency and optimize battery life. It offers three available drive modes, Hybrid, Electric and eSave. Hybrid mode pulls power from both the engine and the battery, electric relies solely on battery power, and eSave will utilize the engine power first, and switch over to electric when the 4xe needs an extra boost. The 4xe also uses regenerative braking, a system in which the vehicle sends electricity to the battery pack when the brake pedal is engaged. The Wrangler 4xe also features entertainment technology such as the Uconnect 4C NAV infotainment system. This version includes integrated navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and up to an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Drivers can also access Eco Coaching Pages which help guide them through the 4xe’s various functions.
